[EN] In the Merikortteli (Seaquarter) area, there is an old observation tower in a museum next to the parking lot. This is not a lighthouse. Its purpose of use has been the observation tower of the coast guard in the archipelago. There are still these on different islands. It is not known from which island this was transferred.
Surveillance of marine areas is carried out with cameras in many places today. They are accurate and easy to use remotely. The old-fashioned watchtower is no longer necessary.
You have to go up to the tower by ladders. They have been removed from this tower and you cannot get there because it is a part of museum. This observation tower has a steel frame and the covered top is partially made of wood. There are large windows, but not everywhere. The tower apparently has a mechanism by which the direction of its upper part can be rotated.
