"The Saint-Mathieu Bridge is a covered bridge with an elaborate Town-type reticular truss structure. Located in the municipality of Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc, it crosses the Shawinigan River. The bridge was listed as a historic monument in 2001.

History
Built in 1936, the Saint-Mathieu covered bridge was once in the economic center of the municipality of Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc. There was notably a cheese dairy, a sawmill and a forge. Its construction made it possible to connect the banks of the Shawinigan River.

This single-span bridge is 24.54 meters long and 5.77 meters wide. Its structure is composed of trusses made of logs placed diagonally, which form a large lattice, as well as vertical posts placed between the upper and lower single ropes.

Major repairs were begun in 1992. The bridge's roof was replaced and the abutments were rebuilt. The bridge was listed as a historic monument by the municipality on August 6, 2001.

In June 2007, the municipality of Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc inaugurated a historic site near the bridge. At a cost of $65,000 and with financial support from the MRC of Maskinongé. The bridge was renovated in 2009 where the paneling was replaced and the bridge repainted."
