This congregation was founded in 1826, the cemetery created in 1837, and the church built in 1857 to 1860. I known the sign says it was established in 1857, but historic records say otherwise.
There is no web page and no records of this church being an active church any more. I cannot find when it ceased having regular services, and if anything is held here anymore. I believe it is now used as a cemetery chapel.
"Located on Bear Creek at the site of the Section 5, Township 48 North, Range 6 West. Ten acres of land were set aside by Jabez Peveler for a church site. This is Bear Creek Township.
All charter members of New Providence Church with Jabez and Hannah Ham being among the organizers in 1826
There must have been a typhoid epidemic in 1844 as three Sailor family members died Sept. 28, 1844, and three others two days later. It was handed down that there was high water at the time." ~ MoGenWeb
