En España Sebastián fue Teniente de la IX Brigada Mixta.
Ya en Francia participó muy activamente en la Resistencia en la zona de Bretaña, donde formó parte de un comando que destruyó los motores de los submarinos de la base de Lorient. Participó en el atentado contra el jefe de la organización TODT, en sabotajes a las líneas telefónicas y de ferrocarril, entre otras acciones. Fue jefe de un grupo de doce guerrilleros.
En el comando de Bretaña estaba a las órdenes de "Chato" y "Barrios", fusilados los dos en Rennes en mayo de 1944, cuando cae todo el grupo al ser delatados.
Fue detenido el 11 de mayo de 1944 en Lorient junto con otros treinta compañeros. Internado en Compiègne y deportado a Dachau el 18 de junio. En noviembre fue trasladado a Auschwitz y el 26 de enero de 1945, un día antes de la liberación del campo, fue trasladado en una de las marchas de la muerte al campo de concentración de Buchenwald.
Aquí también formó parte de la resistencia interna del campo, formando parte del comité liberador que actuó antes de que las tropas aliadas llegasen al campo.
Su stolperstein se puso el 13 de junio de 2023 en la calle Claudio Coello, 24.”
