Registered to Municipality of Thames Centre. From Delaware & Westminster Townships Honouring Our Roots: "Land for this cemetery was purchased in two parts from Richard C. and Eliza Ann Sharpe and from Henry Cram. The back portion has been used since 1840, when the first settlement took place. This cemetery officially dates back to 1861 but actually in use much before that. It is believed that Matilda Palen (1813-1840) was the first person buried in this cemetery. After 1861 the burial ground was used steadily until the 1930s. The last burial occurred in 1950 for Mrs. John McLellan who wanted to be buried beside her husband who died in 1927." In 1980 the Township hired a crew to restore the cemetery. "All of the grave markers were catalogued before machinery was brought in to move the stones and level the ground. The stones were not placed back in their original positions but laid out on three concrete pads on the high ground at the back of the cemetery. The markers were laid out in family groupings.".
