This Congregational Church has an Evangelical bent. Their affirmed beliefs are:

• That the universe is the purposeful creation of a personal, loving, almighty God.
• That all human beings are made in the image of the Creator and are of infinite worth.
• That our world is under the sway of sin as a result of a historical and a personal human rebellion against God, so that suffering, death and separation from God are the experience of humankind; and that without the intervention of God's grace, this will be the eternal state of all persons.

The congregation is small and shares the pastor with the nearby Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Hosensack, PA.

The one story building itself was a former Baptist Church erected in 1853 on a tract of land that originally had been issued to Berhard Derr. In 1900, a small congregation of United Evangelical members purchased the property and remodeled the Church.

This Church is referred to by locals as "the Little Church on the Hill", as it overlooks the hamlet of Vera Cruz.
