Fort Wellington ceased to be military grounds in 1923 when it became an historic site. Now maintained by Parks Canada, to gain access to the fort and this gun, an admission fee is required.
This War of 1812 gun is mounted on a long wood traversing carriage. From the fort’s southeast bastion, the gun targets the St Lawrence River in the direction of Ogdensburg, New York.
Serial number 129, the gun was cast by Walker & Company (WCo) in 1807.
