Il est bordé par le plus grand canton de Sutton au nord et à l'est, par la municipalité de Frelighsburg à l'ouest et par la ville de Richford, Vermont aux États-Unis, au sud.
L'endroit fut d'abord connu sous le nom de Sheppard's Mills en l'honneur de Thomas Sheppard, l'un des premiers habitants en 1879. Cependant, l'origine du nom Abercorn reste incertaine.
