Este pueblo sevillano con algo más de 12.000 habitantes genera más del 80 por ciento de la producción de uno de los dulces más populares de la Navidad en nuestro país. Y el 90 por ciento de quien lo elabora es personal femenino. Llegar a Estepa en coche es toparse con esta realidad. De piedra, con delantal y dulce en mano la mujer estepeña dirige el paso desde una rotonda de la avenida principal. La escultura nos advierte de los dos tesoros más valiosos de esta isla industrial: sus mujeres y sus mantecados.
This Sevillian town with just over 12,000 inhabitants generates more than 80 percent of the production of one of the most popular Christmas sweets in our country. And 90 percent of those who make it are female staff. Arriving at Estepa by car means coming across this reality. Made of stone, with an apron and candy in hand, the Estepeña woman leads the way from a roundabout on the main avenue. The sculpture warns us of the two most valuable treasures of this industrial island: its women and its mantecados.
