A stylized miner’s lamp is cast into this concrete support for a highway overpass, commemorating the coal mining history of Canmore.

The large cement lamp house is one of the few above-ground remnants of Canmore’s coal-mining past. Today, Canmore is the gateway to the natural destinations of Banff National Park and Kananaskis Country.

Due to the location of this art in the center of the busy Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1), it is safest to take photos as a car passenger.
