Stuart W. Cramer High Schools built in 2013 and located at 101 Lakewood Rd, Belmont, NC 28012. Its namesake is the founder of the city of Cramerton who established the local cotton mill.

HISTORY
In 2007 voters approved a $175 million bond referendum for new school construction. A new high school to relieve overcrowding at East Gaston High School and South Point High School was a top priority of this plan. The school district scoured the east side of the county looking for potential sites for the new school. Finding one-hundred or so contiguous acres in the rapidly growing east side of the county proved to be quite a challenge. Tremendous study was given to the nearby roads and access to the sites. Ultimately, the District chose 138 acres just south of HWY 74 in Cramerton. The site is the former location of the Lakewood Golf Course. Ninety-nine acres east of Lakewood Road will be used by the new high school with the remaining 39 acres west of Lakewood set aside for future use.

Construction on the site will be phased so as to lessen the impact on the nearby wetlands. Construction will be monitored by an independent third-party testing firm as well.

CONSTRUCTION
A groundbreaking was held on September 21, 2010 to officially kick off the work. On August 19, 2010 the School Board awarded the project to Shelco Construction Company of Charlotte, N.C.-History
