Christ Church traces its roots to 1888, when the church was completed. It was the first church to be completed in Monmouth Township.

The church faithfully served its parishioners continuously until the mid 1960's, when dwindling numbers both in the church and surrounding community resulted in the cessation of services and the church ultimately being turned over to the Township.

Today, the church stands as the sole remaining public building from the town of Essonville. It is maintained by the Township as a monument to those who called Essonville home.

A service of Remembrance is conducted once yearly.
Year built or dedicated as indicated on the structure or plaque: 1888
