"Guía Turística de Villanueva del Rosario
Publicación financiada por el Plan de Competitividad Turística de la Sierra Norte de Málaga con información básica de Villanueva del Rosario. Dicha información incluye el plano de la localidad con los puntos de interés, una breve descripción del municipio, de su historia, de su patrimonio, de su naturaleza, de algunas posibles rutas a realizar a pie, de las posibilidades de alojamiento (hoteles, hostales, pensiones, casas rurales, viviendas turísticas, etc.) y restauración, de sus fiestas y de su gastronomía. También se ofrece una breve información del Plan de Competitividad, así como de datos de contacto (página web, correo electrónico, oficina de turismo, ayuntamiento, etc.).
La unión de diversos caseríos dio lugar a este pueblo, conocido popularmente como el "Sauceda". La localidad se levanta en la falda de la sierra de los Camarolos, entre magníficos espacios abiertos, disfrutando de una gran riqueza paisajística y natural. En sus cercanías se han hallado restos de pinturas prehistóricas, testimonios de pasados asentamientos en estos lugares. El casco urbano nos lleva hasta su centro histórico, de callejas estrechas y con gran encanto, en los que se abren plazas donde se encuentran los edificios más importantes del municipio.
