"In 1770, the City Council of Aguilar de la Frontera considered the need to build a new tower on the Silera hill, in order to provide the hours to the town. After its elevation was approved by Charles III, the work of the Clock Tower It would be completed approximately around 1774.

Attributed to the enlightened Aguilarense Juan Vicente Gutiérrez de Salamanca, it is one of the most emblematic monuments of the city. Measuring about thirty-two meters, it consists of a base consisting of stone ashlars, three well-proportioned and tapered brick bodies, a dome with a lantern and a wrought iron weather vane. The elegant delineation responds to a baroque aesthetic with classical elements (superimposition of classical orders on pilasters and attached columns).

It has two bronze bells made around 1879 and clockwork from the end of the 19th century."
