This architectural remnant from the old West Virginia Capitol building can be found near the site of the building at the intersection of Lee and Hale Streets near 818 Lee St E, Charleston, WV 25301. The remnant is from the front portico and is stone. A photo can be found here of the structure. The inscription on the plaque at the base of the remnant reads:
State Capitol
1885 - 1921
— stonework from the front portico —
stood on the block bounded by Lee, Dickenson, Washington and Capitol Streets

in memory of Charles Walker volunteer died fighting the Capitol fire Jan. 3rd 1921
