Fue la primera fuente de la ciudad instalada en 1850. Actualmente formada por un pedestal de mármol blanco pulido y escultura del Negrito en hierro fundido.

"Esta fuente es la primera fuente, de origen francés, instalada en la ciudad con agua potable y fue elegida para realizar la inauguración del agua potable en la ciudad de Valencia.
Situada en la decimonónica plaza del Negrito, a espaldas de la calle Caballeros, se encuentra la Fuente del Negrito que fue la primera fuente pública de agua potable que hubo en la ciudad. Se inauguró el 19 de noviembre de 1850, al mismo tiempo que se inauguraba este servicio en la ciudad.
Situado sobre un pedestal prismático que tiene en cada una de sus caras un mascaron, esta artística fuente representa a un niño desnudo que soporta con sus brazos alzados y una concha sobre su cabeza por la que sale el agua. La fuente está realizada con hierro fundido y fue precisamente el color oscuro de esta material el que originó que popularmente se le adoptase como "el negrito", tan lejos llegó la tradición que la plaza, anteriormente llamada de Calatrava, hasta 1940 que cambió su nombre por el actual.
Como consecuencia de la guerra civil española solo subsistió la taza circular realizada en piedra de Liria y en 1955 se recompuso de nuevo la fuente con una figura similar moldeada en bronce por Luís Roig."

Located in the 19th-century Plaza del Negrito, behind Caballeros Street, is the Fuente del Negrito, which was the first public drinking water fountain in the city. It was inaugurated on November 19, 1850, at the same time that this service was inaugurated in the city.
Located on a prismatic pedestal that has a figurehead on each of its faces, this artistic fountain represents a naked child supported with his arms raised and a shell on his head through which water comes out. The fountain is made of cast iron and it was precisely the dark color of this material that caused it to be popularly adopted as "el negrito", the tradition went so far that the square, previously called Calatrava, until 1940 when it changed its name for the current one.
As a consequence of the Spanish civil war, only the circular cup made of Liria stone survived and in 1955 the fountain was recomposed again with a similar figure molded in bronze by Luís Roig."
