Este reloj de sol ecuatorial corregido nos permite conocer no solo la hora solar, sino también la hora civil; es decir, la que marcan los relojes. La corrección tiene en cuenta la fecha y la latitud del lugar. Para esto, el gnomon ha sido sustituido por una placa movil en cuyo centro se ha dibujado una figura muy singular en forma de ocho, llamada analema, calculada para Valencia y que describe las posiciones del sol en el cielo a lo largo del año.
Para leer la hora hay que orientar la placa móvil en dirección perpendicular a los rayos del sol. La silueta proyectada por el analema corta en tres puntos la escala graduada de las horas. El punto central nos da la hora solar. Busca la fecha de hoy en el analema para saber cuál de los otros dos puntos marca la hora civil. Al leer la hora ten en cuenta si estás en el horario de invierno o verano.
This corrected equatorial sundial allows us to know not only solar time, but also civil time; that is, the one that the clocks show. The correction takes into account the date and latitude of the place. For this, the gnomon has been replaced by a mobile plate in the center of which a very unique figure in the shape of an eight has been drawn, called the analemma, calculated for Valencia and which describes the positions of the sun in the sky throughout the year.
To read the time, the mobile plate must be oriented perpendicular to the sun's rays. The silhouette projected by the analemma cuts the graduated hour scale into three points. The central point gives us the solar time. Look for today's date in the analemma to find out which of the other two points marks civil time. When reading the time, keep in mind whether you are in winter or summer time.
