MOUNT MORIAH CEMETERY Mount Moriah Cemetery is one of three cemeteries and is located on Montana Street in Butte, Silver Bow County.

Mount Moriah was established in 1877 by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Masonic Lodge of Butte. The two organizations acquired 45 acres for $5.00 from the Northern Pacific Railroad.

The cemetery encompasses the Chinese cemetery as well. Approximately 58 acres in size, this historic cemetery is one of largest in Butte. It is very well maintained and has approximately 20,000 known interments, including two famous interments, those of U.S. Congressmen Albert James Campbell and US Senator Lee Theophilus Mantle.

The Mount Moriah Cemetery has towering pine trees throughout and along the roadways and front entrance. A graceful granite colonnade framing several modest gravestones greets visitors to the Mount Moriah Cemetery.

As you enter the cemetery, there are veteran white crosses with the name of the fallen hero inscribed. The crosses are on both sides of the roadway, and during Memorial Day activities flag poles are installed to fly the American Flag at each station. Towards the back of the cemetery is a Veteran memorial.
There are several obelisks headstones in the Mount Moriah Cemetery. One of which is for Grace Annear.
