Aland is an autonomous region in Finland. The legislative power is held by the Aland Lagting (parliament). The Lagting appoints a government, (Landskabsregeringen) where the council is the chairman (head of government).
Aland's parliament building is located in a newer building in the middle of Marienhamn. It is called "Självstyrelsegården" and was completed in 1978. Architect: Helmer Stenros.
The large building is an angular building with a large open space in front of the buildings. Here there are many benches, pillars and a couple of fountains.
The building houses both the parliment (Lagtinget) and the regional government (Landskabsregeringen)
