I didn't think that we'd even see it due to the cloudcover we've been experiencing all week, but the moon was visible through the haze so we thought we'd give it a try. And just at the right time and place, there it was - too big for a satellite, but not blinking like a plane. It had to be pretty bright to show up through the haze and light pollution of this area. Now we can't wait to see it on a clear night.
I've been talking about doing this "siting" for a week now and my husband kept rolling his eyes over my latest weird waymarking escapade. Last night he went out with me though, and once he saw it he was like a little kid. He ran inside to call his parents and brother to go out and look for it in Wyoming because it would be there in a minute or so. (He didn't realize it would be in the earth's shadow by then.) Now he wants to try again for a couple nights and he's sending the Heavens-Above link to his brother, who's a teacher.
