"La escultura de Tony Cragg ‘Points of view’ ha sido finalmente la elegida por la Fundación Hortensia Herrero para quedarse en València. La presidenta de la entidad, Hortensia Herrero, la adquirirá para, posteriormente, donársela para siempre a la ciudad.
Points of view’ es una escultura de acero inoxidable, de 3,8 toneladas de peso y una altura de 5,7 metros. En la actualidad se encuentra expuesta junto a la entrada del Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe, donde permanecerá hasta el traslado definitivo a su nueva ubicación: la rotonda del Puente de Monteolivete.
Mientras uno se enfrenta a sus propios reflejos en la Columna Elíptica, está la culminación de la experiencia visual que termina con las conversaciones que inspira la obra. Como el artista describió las capacidades de una escultura, “existe la idea de que la escultura es algo sólido y estático, y que es un momento congelado en el tiempo... La escultura es relativamente sólida, en su mayor parte, pero también lo es nuestra realidad material cotidiana... aunque la El mundo parece muy sólido, en realidad está incompleto: fluye totalmente todo el tiempo. Este diálogo final concluye así el multifacético propósito de Columna Elíptica , una obra maestra que posee la capacidad de no ser útil, sino más bien sugerente y, evidentemente, reflexiva.
