This log cabin was built in the 1890s and was originally on the shore of the Bow River, where it served as the base for the Mather family’s boat business, and a winter skating rink on the river. When the Mathers operated the Lake Minnewanka boat concession, this was the home of their employee, Capt. Jack Standly.
In the 1950s, the cabin was moved to become part of a tourist cabin business, Bow Cabin Court. In 1973, it was moved again to its current location on the grounds of the Whyte Museum.
