In 2012, this 10-lane cable-stayed bridge across the Fraser River connected the Metro Vancouver municipalities of Coquitlam (north) and Surrey (south). It replaced the first Port Mann Bridge, which was built in 1964. It has two 163 m (535 ft) towers supporting a 850 m (2,789 ft) main span. It operated as an electronic toll bridge from its opening until 2017.
The original 5-lane Port Mann Bridge, built in 1964, was removed after the new bridge was opened. Its careful deconstruction took three years.
