"The Church of Monteolivete is based on an old hermitage. The current Church is from the 18th century. It is one of the best preserved. The most earthly and worldly version tells us about a hermitage that in the 14th century was attended by Benedictine friars of the monastery of Santa María de Monte Oliveto, near the Tuscan city of Siena and from there they brought the icon that is venerated today in the titular parish.
In memory of the miracle of Monteolivete, a street near the church has been labeled with the name of Pedro Aleixandre.
Built between 1767 and 1771, the Church of Monteolivete is neoclassical in style. It comes from an old hermitage where priests of Neapolitan origin worshiped the icon that is still preserved. It consists of a nave with a Latin cross plan, with the façade flanked by two twin towers with a square base.

Inside, the icon of Our Lady of Monteolivete stands out, presiding over the main altar on a small olive tree that serves as a pedestal. In 1826, the monks of the Congregation of San Vicente de Paul settled in the hermitage, but they had to abandon it in 1835 given the confiscation laws.

Finally, on July 15, 1941, it was established as an independent parish, by decree of the archbishop of Valencia, Prudencio Melo. It is one of the best preserved temples in Valencia, although it is highly restored.
