1932 - La antigua Iglesia de San Andrés es una de las más antiguas de Valencia pues fue construida tras la Reconquista sobre una mezquita. A principio del siglo XVII y por decisión del Arzobispo Juan de Ribera fue reconstruida de nueva planta con su nueva fachada barroca de 1648.
Terminada la Guerra Civil y debido a su estado de deterioro estuvo a punto de ser demolida, siendo trasladada a la calle de Colón donde en la actualidad se ejerce el culto al Santo.
No obstante, inicialmente y con anterioridad a la construcción de éste nuevo templo, ejerció sus funciones como parroquia en un refugio antiaéreo que estaba situado bajo la Gran Via de Germanias.
Sin embargo, al ser declarada en 1942 Monumento Histórico Artístico Nacional, se procedió a su restauración del antiguo templo pasando la propiedad de la Iglesia a la Orden de los Carmelitas Descalzos. Su vuelta al culto bajo la advocación de San Juan de la Cruz se puso en práctica en la anexa Capilla de la Comunión a mediados de los años cincuenta, por lo que la antigua Iglesia de San Andrés ha estado cerrada durante muchos años, abriendo sus puertas en ocasión de la exposición “La Gloria del Barroco” inaugurada en el año 2009.
Su portada principal en el año 1932 en la entonces plaza de San Andrés, pero que tras una importante remodelación urbana se abrió la calle Poeta Querol donde se puede observar la magnífica restauración acometida en su fachada.1944 se observa su ubicación temporal en la Gran Vía Germanías, una vez terminada la Guerra Civil hasta la construcción del nuevo templo en la calle Colón.

1932 - The old Church of San Andrés is one of the oldest in Valencia as it was built after the Reconquista on top of a mosque. At the beginning of the 17th century and by decision of Archbishop Juan de Ribera, it was rebuilt from a new perspective with its new baroque façade from 1648.
After the Civil War and due to its state of deterioration, it was on the verge of being demolished, being moved to Colón Street where the cult of the Saint is currently carried out.
However, initially and prior to the construction of this new temple, it carried out its functions as a parish in an air-raid shelter that was located under Gran Via de Germanias.
However, when it was declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument in 1942, the old temple was restored, passing the property of the Church to the Order of the Discalced Carmelites. Its return to worship under the invocation of Saint John of the Cross was put into practice in the annexed Communion Chapel in the mid-fifties, so the old Church of Saint Andrew has been closed for many years, opening its doors on the occasion of the exhibition “The Glory of the Baroque” inaugurated in 2009.
Its main façade was in 1932 in the then Plaza de San Andrés, but after a major urban remodeling, Poeta Querol Street was opened where you can see the magnificent restoration carried out on its façade. In 1944, its temporary location on Gran Vía can be seen. Germanías, once the Civil War was over until the construction of the new temple on Colón Street.
