4. The KOPPERS BUILDING, SW. corner 7th Ave and Grant St., is a 34-story office building of Indiana limestone, with a base of polished granite. Its high-ceilinged, richly decorated lobby of marble is one of the most impressive in the city. The dark copper roof, when illuminated by flood-lights, appears as white as the limestone of the walls below it. The building was designed by Graham Anderson, Probst and White of Chicago, with E.P.Mellon of New York as associate.

From the Historic Pittsburgh web site:
The Koppers Building, located at Seventh Avenue and Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh, was designed by the architectural firm of Graham, Anderson, Probst & White in 1927-29. The 35-story (475 foot) limestone building, with its external chateau roof (made of copper), its interior decorative bronze work, and colorful veined marbles was designed in the Art Deco-style. One particular item that drew attention was the mailbox located in the main lobby. It was a miniaturized Koppers Building, with stylized pineapples and an exaggerated roof, while the pilaster strips take on elements of Greek, Egyptian, Aztec, and Mayan designs. The structure was a carefully controlled Mellon project, with E.P. Mellon helping in the design and the Mellon-Stuart firm building it. Groundbreaking took place in November 1927, and the building was ready for occupancy in the spring of 1929.
