This charming tiled sign welcomes visitors to the Bremerton neighborhood of Manette, one short drive over the Manette Bridge (or a longer drive down Wheaton Way). It stands in the parking lot of Manette Plaza, also home to the Manette totem pole and Larry and Kristi's Bakery.
Manette has always had its own vibe. It seems not so much a neighborhood of Bremerton as a little village that just happens to be part of a larger city, so the welcome sign here seems particularly apt. The tiled sign itself and the roped wooden pilings surrounding and supporting it pay homage to the fact that Bremerton has always been dependent on the sea. The effort expended to make this an attractive sign is very much in keeping with Manette's overall interest in keeping things small, artistic and beautiful.
