Australian Jack Sinclair settled in the Banff area around 1895. He was a partner with “Wild” Bill Peyto in establishing mining claims in the Banff area, as well as operating a guiding and outfitting business. In 1915, he built this red log cabin. Sinclair later moved to South Africa.

In 1935, the cabin was moved to its current location.
