"La Casa Consistorial de la ciudad de Valencia, sede del Consejo Municipal, integra, en una manzana de planta ligeramente trapezoidal, dos construcciones de época y estilo bien diferenciados: la Casa de Enseñanza, edificada por iniciativa del arzobispo don Andrés Mayoral, entre 1758 y 1763, y el cuerpo de edificio que constituye la fachada principal, realizada entre la segunda y tercera décadas del siglo xx. Se encuentra en la plaza del Ayuntamiento.
la Casa de la Enseñanza (ocupada por el Ayuntamiento desde 1860), la referencia a la sede de la municipalidad como palacio cívico y centro arquitectónico del nuevo centro urbano propiciado por el propio emplazamiento de este. El arquitecto recurrió a un repertorio de formas ornamentales renacentistas y barrocas y a la ostentación de símbolos enaltecedores como las Virtudes Cardinales y otras alegorías, anteponiendo lo suntuario a lo funcional. Por lo demás, el trazado discontinuo, efectista, del cuerpo del edificio, se zonifica entre dos grandes bloques que avanzan sobre la fachada, centrando una elevada torre con reloj y carrillón de campanas, y dos torres menores en los ángulos.
Converge toda ella en el grupo de bronce del escudo municipal sustentado por dos desnudos femeninos de mármol que simbolizan las Artes y las Letras, obra toda de Mariano Benlliure, autor, asimismo, de las bellas enjutas del hueco central, dos mediorrelieves de mármol que simbolizan la Administración y la Justicia.
Las estatuas de mármol que, integradas en los dos bloques salientes parecen dar guardia al anterior conjunto simbólico-heráldico, son obra de Carmelo Vicent (la Justicia y la Prudencia) y Vicente Beltrán (la Fortaleza y la Templanza). Elemento de enlace entre esos dos cuerpos salientes y el resto de fachada son las balaustradas con obeliscos que coronan el conjunto, inaugurado oficialmente en 1930."

"The Town Hall of the city of Valencia, headquarters of the Municipal Council, integrates, in a block with a slightly trapezoidal plan, two buildings of very different period and style: the Teaching House, built on the initiative of Archbishop Don Andrés Mayoral, between 1758 and 1763, and the body of the building that constitutes the main façade, made between the second and third decades of the 20th century.It is located in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
the Casa de la Enseñanza (occupied by the City Council since 1860), the reference to the headquarters of the municipality as a civic palace and architectural center of the new urban center brought about by its own location. The architect resorted to a repertoire of Renaissance and Baroque ornamental forms and the display of exalting symbols such as the Cardinal Virtues and other allegories, putting the sumptuary before the functional. For the rest, the discontinuous, effective layout of the body of the building is zoned between two large blocks that advance on the façade, centering a high tower with a clock and bell carillon, and two smaller towers in the corners.
It all converges in the bronze group of the municipal shield supported by two marble female nudes that symbolize Arts and Letters, all the work of Mariano Benlliure, author, also, of the beautiful spandrels of the central opening, two marble half-reliefs that symbolize Administration and Justice.
The marble statues that, integrated into the two protruding blocks, seem to guard the previous symbolic-heraldic complex, are the work of Carmelo Vicent (Justice and Prudence) and Vicente Beltrán (Fortitude and Temperance). "A linking element between these two protruding bodies and the rest of the façade are the balustrades with obelisks that crown the complex, officially inaugurated in 1930."
