Very quiet in this town today, not a soul moving around. Weekday at 5PM, only person I saw was a county Judge, leaving work.

The Person:
Richard Cooke Hopping
Sheriff, judge, land manager, author. Born in Hood County, Texas. Moved to Clovis, New Mexico, in 1901. Lived at Texico-Farwell from 1905-1910, and served as sheriff. Moved to Littlefield, Texas, in 1918 and was county judge for five years. Moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1924, where he managed Ellwood Estates and the colonization of the Spade Ranch. The Spade Ranch was owned by Isaac Ellwood, and was located in Lamb, Hockley, Hale, and Lubbock Counties of Texas. He also wrote a book, "A Sheriff-Ranger in Chuckwagon Days" ~ SNAC

James Aldridge:
James Aldridge was elected county sheriff in 1918, and Minnie, his wife, served as school board president and county treasurer.
The Place:
The house was being built by R.C. Hopping and was sold to James and Minnie Aldrige before completion.
The house is a four-square plan in design and features a hip roof, with asphalt shingles. The house is a stucco, painted light blue, two-story. The front porch spans the entire front of the structure. On the south elevation is another entrance with a door wide porch.
There is one outbuilding, a garage, constructed with the same materials and same style as the house.
