"Principal templo religioso de Mutxamel, cuya construcción el 16 de febrero de 1513 supone finalizar con las visitas religiosas al pueblo de Sant Joan. Su finalización no tuvo lugar hasta un siglo después y fue dedicado a la advocación de El Salvador.
A mediados del siglo XVI los vecinos de Mutxamel compraron un cuadro con la Imagen de la Madre de Dios a un pintor de Biar, ya que no tenían imagen para sacar en procesión. Esta fue invocada con el título de Mare de Déu de Loreto y se convirtió en Patrona del municipio debido a los milagros ocurridos el 1 de marzo de 1545 y 9 de septiembre de 1597. En su honor se celebran los principales actos religiosos y festivos del municipio en dichas fechas.
En el estilo arquitectónico de la iglesia se aprecian detalles barrocos y neoclásicos. Está formada por una nave de planta de cruz latina con tres capillas. La primera capilla de la Mare de Déu de Loreto estuvo ubicada en los bajos del campanario y es una muestra bastante importante del Renacimiento en tierras alicantinas.
Destaca la torre gótica adosada que en la actualidad sirve de campanario, pero cuya función era la de proteger a la población de los ataques piratas. Data del siglo XVI, mide 23´5 m. de altura y está dividida en cinco pisos, cada uno de ellos con una solución arquitectónica diferente".

"Main religious temple of Mutxamel, whose construction on February 16, 1513 means ending religious visits to the town of Sant Joan. Its completion did not take place until a century later and it was dedicated to the dedication of El Salvador.
In the middle of the 16th century, the residents of Mutxamel bought a painting with the Image of the Mother of God from a painter from Biar, since they did not have an image to take out in procession. This was invoked with the title of Mare de Déu de Loreto and became Patron Saint of the municipality due to the miracles that occurred on March 1, 1545 and September 9, 1597. The main religious and festive acts of the municipality are celebrated in her honor on said dates.
Baroque and neoclassical details can be appreciated in the architectural style of the church. It consists of a nave with a Latin cross plan with three chapels. The first chapel of the Mare de Déu de Loreto was located in the lower part of the bell tower and is quite an important example of the Renaissance in Alicante.
The attached Gothic tower stands out, which currently serves as a bell tower, but whose function was to protect the population from pirate attacks. It dates from the 16th century, it measures 23.5 m. high and is divided into five floors, each with a different architectural solution".
