County of town: Moniteau County
Location of town: on MO Hwy 179, just E. of MO Hwy 87
Location of city hall: 103 Row St., (MO-179), Jamestown
Elevation: 869'

Just east of town is a compound, with steel images of Native Americans and quotes from Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce, and no explanation of what was here. I assumed a Native American Pow-Wow site.

"Jamestown was incorporated in May, 1873, when the following trustees were appointed: J. B. Wolfe, A. S. Maas, G. P. Barker, A. H. Workman, H. A. Carroll. At a meeting of the board on the 22d, J. B. Wolfe was elected president; H. H. Schaeffer, clerk; J. H. Fulcher, marshal. . . In April 1878 the town hall was reported completed. [Ed. note: Over the years through 1889, numerous men were elected to the various offices as the town continued to prosper]." ~ Moniteau County MOGenWeb

"Jamestown is a village in Moniteau County, Missouri, United States. The population was 382 at the 2000 census, at which time it was a town. It is part of the Jefferson City, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area. Incorporated in 1873, Jamestown was named after Edward and Samuel James who established a trading post there in 1846. The town traces its roots to 1837 when John, William and Joshua Hightower built a tobacco factory at the site. The location was desirable as it was at an intersection of roads leading from the river towns of Sandy Hook and Lupus, Missouri" ~ mapquest

"Jamestown is a town on the N6 national road 58 km south of Aliwal North and 105 km north of Komani (formerly Queenstown) in the Joe Gqabi District Municipality of the Eastern Cape, South Africa. It is at the centre of a fertile sheep, cattle and wheat-farming area and was the terminus of a branch railway line from Molteno. It was named after James Wagenaar, original owner of the farm on which the town was laid out.

"The Jamestown Hospital, which was previously provincially aided, has since January 2011 been fully operated by the Eastern Cape Department of Health.

"There are two public schools: Phambili Mzontsundu Senior Secondary School which is situated in town, and Phahameng Primary School which is situated in Masakhane Township. Next to Siyanda Nonkala's home." ~ Wikipedia
