A group of settlers from Massachusetts, known as the "Boston Colony", arrived in Geneva in 1836 and quickly became some its most influential citizens. Many of this group were instrumental in founding the Unitarian Church in Geneva, constructing its building in 1843, which is still the home of the church today.
