C.,? como zona de recreo o refugio de la lluvia para los espectadores de los cercanos Teatros grande y pequeño,? o, una teoría menos acreditada, utilizada como gimnasio para los atletas;? tras el terremoto de Pompeya del año 62, fue completamente renovada y ampliada? y cambió su función por la de escuela de gladiadores: sin embargo, cuando las obras aún no estaban terminadas, la erupción del Vesubio en el año 79 la cubrió bajo un manto de lapilli y ceniza. Salió a la luz, junto con los teatros cercanos, tras las excavaciones arqueológicas ordenadas por la dinastía borbónica.

The Quadriportico of the theaters was built at the beginning of the 1st century BC. C., possibly in the year 80 BC. C.,? as a recreation area or shelter from the rain for spectators of the nearby Big and Small Theaters,? or, a less accredited theory, used as a gymnasium for athletes;? after the Pompeii earthquake of the year 62, it was completely renovated and expanded?and changed its function to that of a gladiator school: however, when the works were not yet finished, the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 covered it under a blanket of lapilli and ash. It came to light, along with the nearby theaters, after archaeological excavations ordered by the Bourbon dynasty.
