Villena es un municipio y una ciudad española de la Comunidad Valenciana. Situada en el noroeste de la provincia de Alicante, limita al oeste con la Región de Murcia y Castilla-La Mancha y al norte con la provincia de Valencia. Es cabeza de partido judicial y capital de la comarca del Alto Vinalopó. Se sitúa a una altitud de 504 m s. n. m. y su término municipal abarca una extensión de 345,6 km² (lo que lo convierte en el 2.º más grande de la provincia). Contaba con 34 155 habitantes en 2020 (INE), siendo el 11.º municipio más poblado de Alicante y el 21.º de la Comunidad Valenciana.

En el primer cuartel, de azur, hay un castillo de oro y donjonado de tres torres, aclarado de gules y mazonado de sable, mientras que en el segundo, de plata, se ve un león rampante de púrpura linguado y uñado de gules. En el tercer cuartel, de gules, se aprecia una mano de plata armada de una espada de plata sumada de medio vuelo de oro y en el cuarto, de oro, hay tres árboles al natural arrancados y terrazados. Por su parte, en el quinto cuartel, de azur con filiera de plata, se observan dos peces encontrados de plata en palo. Como timbre una corona real abierta.
