The Castrelo de Miño reservoir is a very pleasant and beautiful place, where you can fish, practice water sports, swim in open water, etc.
As for fishing, I share what this blog says.

"Castrelo de Miño dams the waters of the Miño River near the city of Orense, after collecting the contribution of the Sil and just before receiving the Avia River. The sheet of water occupies 790 hectares of some of the formerly best lands for the production of the famous Ribeiro wine , and which, after its construction at the end of the 60s, went from providing natural sustenance to one of the best Spanish wines, to serving deposit of about 60 hm3 of water dedicated to the production of energy.

They were other times and other needs. Perhaps as a way of partly compensating for the damage suffered by the region, many years later, already in this century, attempts have been made to promote the use and public enjoyment of the reservoir, favoring the establishment of facilities related to nautical sports, setting up promenades and picnic areas. and, of greater interest to the fisherman, building platforms to facilitate the exercise of fishing. Specifically, we can find wooden fishing facilities scattered along the southern shore of the reservoir, from Oleiros to Troncoso. Leaving these comfortable platforms aside, the shores are wooded although passable and fishable in many sections.

The black bass is one of the species present in Castrelo. The centrarchid, which replaces the past good salmon and the more recent common trout as a predator, is present in other reservoirs of the Miño, but perhaps this is one of the best for fishing in said river. It is no coincidence that the "Open Internacional Black Bass Galicia" has been held for several years in these waters.

There are many areas with good coverage , dozens of places that will hold the breath of the angler who slides his vinyl under a tree. Good conditions do not mean that there is a good bass bet under each branch; reality is not as perfect as imagination and most of the time we will find mini basses . Large basses , close to 2 kg, exist, but their fishing is very complicated. In any case, we must be attentive to the moment of activity and not leave without trying in those cases with surface lures . Spinnerbaits can be a good resource for when that activity drops.

The cyprinid fisherman , in addition to the luxury of having the aforementioned fishing posts, will find in Castrelo a good number of carp with an average size of 2 kg. In addition to this fun and comfortable fishing, in the reservoir there is space for carp fishing , and the option of catching some of the much larger carp that inhabit it"
