Together with the former presbytery and square tower, the church forms a fine architectural ensemble of character, originally constituting a priory. The first known document to mention the church states that, around 1080, "Guy, bishop of Limoges, gave the church of Colondannes to the monastery of Bénévent". The western part of the church is said to have been partially rebuilt and joined to the eastern part in the 17th century. At the same time, other important works were carried out, as evidenced by two dates: 1648 on the most recent frescoes and 1688 on the font over the entrance door. The church was originally topped in the middle by a belfry-wall. The present belfry was built in 1868. It still contains the bell christened on November 23, 1868. Between 2002 and 2012, the building was completely restored, both inside and out.
