"Tibi es un municipio situado en el interior de la provincia de Alicante, en la comarca de la Hoya de Alcoy y en la subcomarca tradicional y geográfica de la Hoya de Castalla.
Su iglesia está dedicada a Santa María Magdalena. Perteneció a Ceut-Abu-Ceit, el que dió la jurisdicción eclesiástica al Arzobispo de Tarragona D. Pedro Albalat, en 17 de febrero de 1247.
En documento fechado el 17 de abril de 1270 consta que compró Sancho Pérez el castillo y villa al ex-rey moro, vendiéndolo a su vez, en 25 de febrero de 1313, a Bernardo Crudellis, pasando luego por compra a la Corona, que lo vendió, en 23 de julio de 1317, a la infante Violante de Grecia. Últimamente tuvo el señorío el marqués de Dos Aguas.
En 1337 se dió licencia al señor del castillo don Alonso Martínez de Morera para que se dijera Misa en su capilla y celebraran en ella los demás Oficios. En 1339 consta que se recogían limosnas para la construcción de la iglesia, lo que nos certifica que la cristiandad de Tibi es antiquísima.
En la parroquia hubo un beneficio, y cuenta con una ermita dedicada a Santa María Magdalena, que es la patrona, a la que se consagran fiestas el 22 de julio, y a los Santos Reyes en su día: existe también un oratorio público en honor del Santísimo (vulgo Pedrera).
.El templo, con planta en forma de cruz latina contiene una nave de tres crujías con capillas laterales entre contrafuertes conectadas entre sí y cabecera recta. El crucero cubre con cúpula ciega sobre pechinas y la nave con bóveda de cañón con lunetos y falsas ventanas reforzada por arcos fajones. Todo el interior, bastante oscuro, se unifica con códigos formales clásicos mediante un sistema de pilastras y un entablamento continuo para la nave y un subsistema propio para cada capilla. En el exterior destaca la sencillez de la volumetría, con la interesante torre de planta cuadrada de tres cuerpos y remate superior con pináculos. Sobre las fábricas, enlucidas en blanco, destacan dos portadas, una a los pies, dando a un callejón, y otra lateral que recae a la plaza de la villa".

The temple, with a plan in the shape of a Latin cross, contains a nave with three bays with side chapels between interconnected buttresses and a straight head. The transept is covered with a blind dome on pendentives and the nave with a barrel vault with lunettes and false windows reinforced by transverse arches. The entire interior, quite dark, is unified with classical formal codes through a system of pilasters and a continuous entablature for the nave and its own subsystem for each chapel. On the outside, the simplicity of the volumetry stands out, with the interesting square tower with three bodies and a top with pinnacles. Above the factories, plastered in white, two portals stand out, one at the foot, facing an alley, and another on the side facing the town square".
