Tegenover de oude herberg “Het Oude Posthuys” staat op het plein, de Eltener Markt, een oude water trog vroeger gebruikt om de (postkoets) paarden te laten drinken. Op de gemetselde pilaar staat een posthoorn afgebeeld als referentie naar de toenmalige functie van het posthuis.
Toen het gebruik van paarden en koetsen niet gebruikelijk meer was werd het een fontein.
Tussen het jaartal 1932 op de pilaar en een relief van een paardenhoofd staat een modern waarschuwingsbordje dat het water geen drinkwater is…
Er zijn mooi bewerkte smeedijzeren waaiers zijn aan weerszijden van de fontein geplaatst.

Opposite the old inn "Het Oude Posthuys" is on the square, the Eltener Markt, an old water trough formerly used to let the (stagecoach) horses drink. A post horn is depicted on the masonry pillar as a reference to the former function of the post house.
When the use of horses and carriages was no longer common, it became a fountain.
Between the year 1932 on the pillar and a relief of a horse's head is a modern warning sign that the water is not drinking water...
Beautifully carved wrought iron fans are placed on either side of the fountain.
