VEGHEL - De spoorbrug van het Duits Lijntje krijgt vandaag een nieuwe plek aan het Middegaal in Veghel. De treinfanaten die op het voormalige rangeerterrein al een locomotief en ander materieel onderhouden zijn er maar wat blij mee. ,,Het wordt hier een klein museum. Er valt zoveel over het Duits Lijntje te vertellen.”
Woensdagavond na 21.00 uur, toen het stil was op straat en de wegen leeg waren, heeft Gaffert de 60 ton zware brugdelen naar het Middegaal gereden. Vandaag wordt de spoorbrug daar weer opgebouwd, op de pijlers die enkele maanden geleden al in het beton gestort zijn. De spoorbrug die ooit over de Zuid-Willemsvaart lag, komt nu aan het begin van het voormalige rangeerterrein te staan. Wie het spoor volgt richting de Populierlaan komt daar nog een locomotief, een goederenwagon en een bollenwagon tegen. De spoorwegvrijwilligers van SIEMei hebben deze allemaal opgeknapt, net als de de handbediende overweg en het terrein. Ze maken zelfs soms korte treintochtjes over het stukje spoor.
Vrijwilligers willen het spoor weer heel maken
Nu de spoorbrug is toegevoegd, is het verhaal van het Duits Lijntje, het spoor tussen Boxtel en het Duitse Wesel, weer een stukje completer. ,,Nergens langs het Duits Lijntje tref je zoveel erfgoed aan als hier op het rangeerterrein", zegt Ton de Kleijn. Hij zette zelfs een website op over zijn geliefde Duits Lijntje: tonspoor.nl. En samen met de andere SIEMei-vrijwilligers hebben ze de blog Vrienden van Veghels spoor. ,,Er valt zoveel te vertellen over het spoor, daar willen we graag meer mee gaan doen de komende jaren", zegt De Kleijn. Hij wijst naar twee stukken spoor die langs het tracé liggen. ,,Halverwege het rangeerterrein ligt een fietspad. Daar zouden we graag deze stukken spoor neerleggen, zodat we met onze trein van de Populierlaan naar de spoorbrug aan het Middegaal kunnen rijden. Het is toch mooi als we dat zoiets eens in de paar weken kunnen doen, als een soort toeristische attractie. Je zou hier een soort rijdend museum kunnen maken.”
De spoorbrug, die ooit over de Zuid-Willemsvaart lag, wordt nu als een stuk erfgoed bewaard. De komende jaren zal het veel voorbijgangers trekken. Want pal langs dit stuk van het Duits Lijntje komt straks ook het snelfietspad. bron (

The railway bridge that once crossed the Zuid-Willemsvaart will now be located at the beginning of the former marshalling yard. If you follow the track towards the Populierlaan, you will come across a locomotive, a freight wagon and a bulb wagon. The railway volunteers of SIEMei have refurbished all of these, as well as the manually operated level crossing and the grounds. They even sometimes make short train trips on the track.
Volunteers want to make the track whole again
Now that the railway bridge has been added, the story of the German Lijntje, the track between Boxtel and the German Wesel, is a bit more complete. "Nowhere along the German Line you will find so much heritage as here on the shunting yard," says Ton de Kleijn. He even set up a website about his beloved German Line: tonspoor.nl. And together with the other SIEMei volunteers, they have the blog Friends of Veghels railway "There is so much to tell about the railway, we would like to do more with it in the coming years," says De Kleijn. He points to two pieces of track that lie along the route. There is a cycle path halfway through the marshalling yard. We would like to place these pieces of track there, so that we can drive our train from Populierlaan to the railway bridge at Middegaal. It's nice if we can do something like this once every few weeks, as a kind of tourist attraction. You could make a kind of museum on wheels here.”
The railway bridge, which once crossed the Zuid-Willemsvaart, is now preserved as a piece of heritage. It will attract many passers-by in the coming years. Because right along this part of the German Line will soon also be the fast cycle path. source (
