Seguro que habeis pasado por delante del Patronato. Y seguro que os habréis fijado en la cruz que hay al lado, justo en el cruce de la calle Jose Pineda con la avenida Joaquín Vilanova. Este tipo de cruz, llamada Cruz de término, no es única de esta zona, aunque sí encontraremos un gran número en poblaciones cercanas. Éstas, antiguamente se colocaban a la entrada o salida del pueblo, y a lo largo del tiempo, debido a urbanizaciones o ampliaciones de carreteras, muchas de ellas desaparecieron o cambiaron de lugar.
En otros casos han sido reconstruidas, pues fueron destruidas en la Guerra Civil.
En Ibi, disponemos de la cruz de término. La verdad es que no existen muchos datos acerca de ella, pero sabemos que fué obra del maestro Esteve Brufau, y que se instaló el 17 de enero de 1609, veinte años antes de ser declarada como Villa Real la entonces Universidad de Ibi. La cruz perduró hasta 1936, año en que fué destruida, a raiz de la Guerra Civil. Seis años después, concretamente el 7 de marzo de 1942, se monta definitivamente la cruz actual, que por encargo de la Junta Parroquial, para la reconstrucción del Vía Crucis (cuyas estaciones también fueron destruidas), ha sido hecha por D. Joaquín Ferrer. Tras ella se plantó también el "pinaret del Patronato".
Como dato curioso, me gustaría comentar, que tras la destrucción de las estaciones del Vía Crucis, parece ser que aquellas piedras que las formaban, se emplearon en la construcción de la valla del colegio Cervantes.
Actualmente, la cruz se encuentra totalmente integrada dentro del casco urbano del pueblo, y como una de las pocas cosas que hemos conservado, esperemos que no se pierda.

This type of cross, called Term Cross, is not unique to this area, although we will find a large number in nearby towns. In Ibi, we have the term cross. The truth is that there is not much information about it, but we do know that it was the work of the master Esteve Brufau, and that it was installed on January 17, 1609, twenty years before the then University of Ibi was declared Villa Real. The cross lasted until 1936, the year it was destroyed, as a result of the Civil War. Six years later, specifically on March 7, 1942, the current cross was definitively mounted, which by order of the Parish Council, for the reconstruction of the Via Crucis (whose stations were also destroyed), has been made by D. Joaquín Ferrer. Behind it the "pinaret del Patronato" was also planted.
As a curious fact, I would like to comment that after the destruction of the stations of the Via Crucis, it seems that those stones that formed them were used in the construction of the fence of the Cervantes school.
Currently, the cross is fully integrated into the urban area of ??the town, and as one of the few things that we have preserved, we hope it is not lost.
