Ponte Cavour es un puente en Roma ( Italia ), que conecta la Piazza del Porto di Ripetta con Lungotevere dei Mellini , en los Rioni Campo Marzio y Prati.

El puente también sirve como conexión entre Piazza Cavour y el área de Campo Marzio cerca del Ara Pacis .

Desde la posguerra, en la mañana del 1 de enero de cada año se renueva la tradición de sumergirse en el Tíber con nadadores saltando desde el parapeto del puente.

El puente, diseñado por el arquitecto Angelo Vescovali, fue construido entre 1896 y 1901 , para sustituir la temporal Passerella di Ripetta , que data de 1878 . Fue inaugurado el 25 de mayo de 1901 y lleva el nombre de Camillo Benso, conde de Cavour , uno de los pioneros de la unificación italiana.

El puente tiene cinco arcos de mampostería cubiertos de travertino ; Tiene 20 metros (66 pies) de largo y unos 100 metros (330 pies) de largo.

The bridge also serves as a connection between Piazza Cavour and the Campo Marzio area near the Ara Pacis.

Since the postwar period, on the morning of January 1 of each year, the tradition of diving into the Tiber with swimmers jumping from the parapet of the bridge is renewed.

The bridge, designed by the architect Angelo Vescovali, was built between 1896 and 1901, to replace the temporary Passerella di Ripetta, dating from 1878. It was inaugurated on May 25, 1901, and is named after Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, one of the pioneers of Italian unification.

The bridge has five travertine-covered masonry arches; It is 20 meters (66 feet) long and about 100 meters (330 feet) long.
