Palacio Braschi, un edificio del siglo XVIII situado en el corazón de la Roma renacentista y barroca, entre Piazza Navona y Campo de’ Fiori, es la sede del Museo de Roma.
El palacio, diseñado por el arquitecto Cosimo Morelli (1732-1812), ha sido objeto de complejos trabajos de renovación y restauración que le han devuelto el esplendor original a la arquitectura imponente, al patio escenográfico y a los elegantes estucos y pinturas de las salas.
El elemento arquitectónico más característico del edificio es la escalera monumental, realizada también por el arquitecto Giuseppe Valadier (1762-1839). Muchas salas presentan decoraciones al temple realizadas entre finales del siglo XVIII y principios del siglo XIX.
El Museo de Roma, gracias a la riqueza y a la amplitud de sus colecciones, se considera la institución más significativa para el conocimiento de la historia social y de las actividades artísticas en Roma desde la Edad Media hasta principios del siglo XX. Aquí se conservan más de cien mil obras (entre pinturas, dibujos, esculturas, grabados, fotografías, muebles, vestidos, cerámicas, carrozas y palanquines, elementos arquitectónicos y frescos salvados de demolición) muchas de las cuales se exponen a rotación.
La actual exposición permanente del museo, organizada según un criterio temático y no cronológico, se inauguró en 2017 con el propósito que la colección de Palacio Braschi pudiera reflejar la historia de Roma entre los siglos XVII y XX a través de una lectura transversal de fenómenos sociales y culturales de la Capital.

The current permanent exhibition of the museum, organized according to thematic and not chronological criteria, was inaugurated in 2017 with the purpose that the Palazzo Braschi collection could reflect the history of Rome between the 17th and 20th centuries through a transversal reading of social phenomena. and cultural of the Capital.
