New London Ledge Light is said to be haunted by the ghost of a former lightkeeper named Ernie. It was "reported unexplained knockings taking place at night, as well as doors opening and closing repeatedly, the television turning on and off by itself sporadically, and the unexplained removal of sheets from beds". New London Ledge Light is located in New London Harbor on the north side of Long Island Sound. The lighthouse was designed in the Second Empire Victorian style by the architectural firm of Hamilton R. Douglas Co. and built in 1909. It was built to protect shipping from hazardous rocks and sholes at the mouth of the Thames River, which is actually a tidal estuary.

A 31' high three story brick building has a mansard roof topped by a circular lantern. It originally has a original fourth order Fresnel lens was removed and replaced by a modern beacon when the lighthouse was automated in 1987. In 2014 the lighthouse was acquired by the New London Maritime Society which is responsible for its repair and maintenance.
