[FIN] Rauvolanlahti ja Vaarniemenkallio sijaitsevat Rauvolanlahden NATURA 2000 -verkoston alueella noin 5 km päässä Turun Tuomiokirkosta Turun ja Kaarinan kaupunkien rajalla.

Rauvolanlahden lintutorni on rakennettu 1990-luvulla ja lahdella pitkospuiden varrella sijaitsevat lintulavat 2000-luvun alussa. Vaarniemenkallion lintutorni rakennettiin myös 2000-luvun alussa.

Rauvolanlahdella on käyty katsomassa lintuja jo 1950-luvun lopulta lähtien.

[EN] Rauvolanlahti and Vaarniemenkallio are located in the area of the Rauvolanlahti NATURA 2000 network, about 5 km from Turku Cathedral, on the border between the cities of Turku and Kaarina. The Rauvolanlahti bird tower was built in the 1990s, and the bird platforms along the long trees in the bay are located in the early 2000s. The Vaarniemenkallio bird tower was also built in the early 2000s. People have been going to Rauvolanlahti to watch birds since the late 1950s. At that time, the most popular viewing place was the so-called bird rock. In the 1950s and 1960s, several pairs of plovers, kestrels and partridges nested in the bay. Today, quite a lot of terns and some waterfowl nest in the bay. Regular breeding species also include coot and common hen, and occasionally whiskered grebe. The slime chickens can most certainly be found in the reeds of the old water refinery settling basin. Binoculars are fine, but a telescope is a great tool, because some birds of prey, geese and cranes also migrate through the area.

Rauvolanlahti, together with the Katariinanlaakso and Vaarniemi nature reserves, form a popular birding destination. You can easily get to know the bay from the signposted route, which starts in the Katariina district as a footpath and continues as a long wooden path across the bay to the bird tower and further as a path to the Vaarniemi grove.
