Een Keistamper is een stratenmaker.
Straten waren vroeger van keien gemaakt die goed aangestampt moesten worden
Op de sokkel van het beeld staat de tekst: Boxtel bezat als een van de eerste plaatsen in Brabant reeds in de 15e eeuw al een verharde hoofdstraat, de Langesteenstraat thans Rechterstraat.
Daarom worden Boxtelse ingezetenen van oudsher keistampers genoemd.

Streets used to be made of cobblestones that had to be tamped well
On the pedestal of the statue is the text: Boxtel was one of the first places in Brabant to possess a paved main street as early as the 15th century, the Langesteenstraat now Rechterstraat.
That is why residents of Boxtel are traditionally called kei stampers.
