Whipple Dam State Park is located on Laurel Run Road, off of Route 26, in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. Surrounded by Rothrock State Forest, the 256-acre park includes Whipple Lake, which provides opportunities for swimming and boating. The park is on land that was once used for iron ore mining and sawmilling. In the late 1920s, the land was converted to recreational use. During the 1930s and early 1940, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) worked on the park constructing the dam that is on the east side of the lake, a bridge, pavilions, and more. In 1987, the day-use portion of the park was named a National Historic District to commemorate the work done by the CCC.

The entry for Whipple Dam State Park is on page 119 of the Passport, and notes that its highlight is lake swimming. The text for the park says, "Whipple Dam State Park provides a delightful backdrop for a quiet and relaxing day outdoors. A sandy beach borders Whipple Lake, and the swimming area is a perfect place to indulge in a refreshing dip. Enjoy swimming, fishing, picnicking, or a quiet hike on Whipple Lake Trail."

The park's website notes that the park is open daily from sunrise to sunset, however certain portions of the park, such as the beach are only open during certain seasons and hours.
