Old truss bridge built for US-40, and is now on the service road. There is no shoulder, and no place to really park, so if you stop, be very careful.

First of all, the man who created the Bridge Hunter web site passed away in 2020. I Bridge Historical Society took over his site and completely destroyed the useability of the site. So, information is now gone that could have been usable.
This is a Pony Truss bridge. The term means that the truss bridge has uprights above the road surface, and the uprights are not connected across the top. The bridge plate for this structure no longer exists. Or at least is not attached to the bridge at this time.
This road was US-40/US-61 at the time the bridge was built. It remain so until the four lane highway running next ot it became I-64, then this site became the east service road.
Then Lake St. Louis was created as a resort village, then a city and this road was re-named the Civic Center Drive. When it became the new name the city have MoDoT repave the bridge and the new concrete surface was lengthened to include concrete sides which some what obstructs view of the bridge itself.
In other words, they built a concrete bridge on top of the existing truss bridge.
