The town of Aberfeldy lies in the centre of Scotland in Highland Perthshire by the bank of the River Tay. A golf course was established here in 1895 when the Marquis of Breadalbane gifted land for recreational purposes call The Cour, a patch of grazing ground lying between the town and the south bank of the River Tay.
Nine holes were laid out here and remained so for nearly 100 years until the Weem Cow Park on the opposite bank of the Tay was converted into additional holes, making up an eighteen hole course. A footbridge made entirely of plastic was built across the river to link up both parts of the course, with holes 6-13 lying on the new ground and the original nine being redesigned. This was opened in time for the clubs centenary in 1995.
Unfortunately the areas constant flooding problems caused havoc with the new part of the course and it would be abandoned in 2016 with the course reverting back to its original design of nine holes on the town side of the river.
The course is situated just off the B846 Taybridge Road with the flat-roofed clubhouse lying adjacent to Wade's Bridge over the river. The first tee lies right next to the junction of Taybridge Road and Taybridge Terrace in the town and is a long par 3. The final hole coming back in the opposite direction is the only other short hole, with the 4th being the only par 5.
