The tiny village and parish of Kilconquhar lies in the East Neuk of the Kingdom of Fife, two miles inland north of the Firth of Forth coast and the villages of Elie and Earlsferry. The village is dominated by the tower of the church, and just east of the churchyard on the B941 Main Street is the war memorial situated in a paved area south of the road and facing eastwards.
The memorial was unveiled on September 25th 1921 in the presence of the Earl of Lindsay, and is a rustic grey granite cross on top of an uncut stone on two steps. A downturned sword is carved in shallow relief on the upper part of the cross, above a smaller carved cross. The inscription on the stone below reads:
'ERECTED TO THE MEMORY OF THOSE FROM THIS PARISH WHO SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918'
